Common error messages

What the messages and warning banners you might see in Engineer OS mean, and what to do about each one.

Updated 11 October 2026

"Something went wrong"

A page couldn't load. Tap Try again. If it keeps happening, refresh the page or close and reopen the app. If you see Application Error, tap Refresh.

If the error comes back, email support@engineeros.uk with the page you were on and the message shown under "Something went wrong".

"No access"

You're signed in, but not to a company you belong to on this address. See Sign-in problems.

"Account suspended"

"This Engineer OS account has been suspended and is temporarily unavailable." Your company's account has been paused by Engineer OS, and nobody in the company can sign in. Your company's owner should contact support@engineeros.uk.

Trial and subscription messages (admins)

You'll see a banner at the top of the admin screens:

  • "Your trial ends in N days." Choose a plan on the Billing page to keep going.
  • "Your trial has expired. Read-only access only." Pick a plan on Billing to restore full access. Until then, many admin pages take you to Billing instead of opening.
  • "Your subscription has been cancelled. Read-only access only." Reactivate from Billing.
  • "Payment is past due." Your last payment failed. Update your card via Manage billing on the Billing page. Everything keeps working while you sort it out.

"…requires the Growth plan or higher" (or Scale)

The feature you tried to use (quotes, invoices, the customer portal, planned maintenance, time tracking, parts and so on) isn't on your current plan. The Billing page shows which plan includes it. See Plans, pricing and billing.

"Cannot clock in: your default hourly rate has not been set"

An admin needs to set this engineer's hourly rate before they can use time tracking.

"Page not found"

The link is wrong or out of date, or the page has moved. Tap Go home, or check the address.

Admin messages about users

  • "You cannot deactivate your own account": ask another admin to do it.
  • "Cannot deactivate the last active admin": make someone else an admin first.

Upload, form and sign-in errors

See Photo and upload problems and Sign-in problems.

Still stuck? Email support@engineeros.uk with a screenshot of the message.
